Langtang valley trek is the beautiful, unspoiled trek to the Himalayan region of Nepal. Just after several hours of drive from Kathmandu, you enter the glorious Langtang region. The scenic views of forest and wildlife are lovely. Langtang trek cost is cheaper than other treks to Everest and Annapurna region of Nepal.
Circumscribe by the icy glaciers from the Himalayas, the Langtang region is famous as the Valley of Glaciers. The snowcapped peaks: Langtang Lirung, Langtang Ri, Dorje Lakpa, Langshisa Ri, Langtang Himal along with the varieties of rhododendron, dense forest and Red Panda, the only animal found in this region make this region prime destination for hiking.
The journey to Langtang valley trek begins from Kathmandu. First, we reach Syabrubesi and stay there for the night. The next day, we hike along the Langtang River up to the hotel where we stay for a night. Then, we head towards Langtang village. The gorgeous peaks, glaciers, and Greenland of Langtang village welcome the trek. We stay at Kyanjin Gompa and enjoy the sight. Then, we return back the same route.
There’s no doubt the route is open throughout the year. December-February is not so good for trekking this area. But still, we have seen people are hiking to this region these months. September-November is the best months for trekking to Langtang region.
Langtang Trek Cost
Langtang trek cost is never constant. It varies from season to season. The cost becomes high obviously in the peak season. The cost also depends on how you spend and where you spend. There are some factors where it’s compulsory to spend money.
Permit cost for Langtang Trek
The government of Nepal has regulated two permits for this trek. It is compulsory to have both of these permits.
Never miss buying the permits because you will have to show them at different checkpoints. If you are found without them, you will have to buy them immediately paying the extra charge and may bear punishment as per the law.
Trekker’s Information Management System is compulsory for all while trekking any places of Nepal.It costs NRs 2000 per person
Langtang National Park Permit
During the trip, you go through the beautiful Langtang National Park. Hence, this permit is used in this area.
It costs Nrs 3000 per person.
You can easily purchase them from Tourism Board, Kathmandu before going for the trek.
Meals cost during Langtang trek
The cost of meals is cheaper than any other trips. Dal, Bhat, and Tarkari is a constant option available in all the tea houses.
As you go to higher altitudes, the price of a meal also goes on increasing. You can get hot meal at Nrs 200-300 at lower elevation while it costs you around Nrs 400 at higher altitude.
We recommend you to bring light snacks and chocolates from Kathmandu because the price becomes high on the trail.
Cost of Drinks during Langtang Trek
ust keep in mind; you have to be hydrated all the time on the trail. The cost of drinks also increases with the increase in altitude.
In Kathmandu, you can get bottled water for Nrs 20-100. But at the higher region, the local bottled water will cost Nrs 350.
So, we advise you to carry own water purifier tablets.
Transportation cost for Langtang Trek
There are numbers of options available for Transportation.
The cheapest one is the local bus. It costs Nrs 400 per person. It takes a total of 10 hours to travel from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi.
Tourist bus normally cost you Nrs 1000-1500 to reach Syabrubesi from Kathmandu.
Renting a taxi is expensive. It cost Nrs 7000-10000. Once you learn to bargain with them, it may cost you lesser than that.
Cost due to Duration
The Langtang trek can take any time around 8 to 11 days. The number of trekking destination is high.
You may skip some mountain climbs like Mt. Kyangin Ri, Tsergo Ri. This will help to shorten the trekking days and will save the foods, and accommodation prices of the concerned day.
Guide and Porter cost
The Langtang region trek is possible with or without guide and porter. If you are the first time trekker to Nepal, we recommend you to carry both. The guide and porter will help you to choose the best tea houses. Porter will carry your bag packs.
A guide costs around $20-$25 per day and a porter costs around $15-$18 per day.
You may wish to buy the beautiful handicrafts made by the locals of this region. Also, tipping the guide, porter, teahouses, and restaurants can be done as per your desire.
Now, I guess it is all clear about trekking cost to Langtang region from all these above information’s. There are a lot of routes for going and getting back. We go by one route and return back the next because we don’t want to repeat the route again. Repeating the route definitely will make you feel bored.
