Pokhara got another amazing adventure which is getting popular daily. Currently, two balloons are operated in the area by Pokhara-Balloon Nepal Pvt. Ltd. There’s a permit to operate 5 balloons at once. The balloons were bought from Spain and can carry 8 people at one time. The pilots are hired from India whereas the grounding is done by local experts.

Pokhara Hot air ballooning is a truly breathtaking adventure because you peep 360 degrees view around the superb scenario. The interesting point to note: there is no age restriction for hot air ballooning in Nepal. However, one with altitude sickness must not go for the adventure. Also, moderate fitness is necessary. Small children under the age of 12 must go along with parents.

Nepal’s climate is unpredictable. October to November is the best months for hot air ballooning. However, people are enjoying the flight in January too. They check the weather condition before the takeoff. So, there’s nothing to worry about the climatic condition. You can go for hot air ballooning at any time of the year in Nepal. Chris Dewhirst and his friends had an experiment to fly over the Mt. Everest in 1991. Later, hot air ballooning was launched in Kathmandu valley. The service stopped due to various reasons. Every people were waiting for it to start again. And finally, it begins in Pokhara.

Depending upon the height, range, and the time interval of hot air ballooning, there are three packages:

BIRDS-EYE FLIGHT - 15 Minutes - Not Available at the Moment !

This is the short range flight and obviously takes less time. The hot air balloon flies for about 15 minutes up to 200m above the sky from the ground. Dhampus is the takeoff place which is a beautiful village of Kaski District. It lands on the bank of Mardi River. You may be confused about why the flight name is Birds-eye. It’s because like the birds-eye observe the mountain ranges, you can explore the Annapurna range, Mt. Hiunchuli, Mt. Fishtail, and fly above the lake of Pokhara. The cold environment makes the moment recurring rest of your life.

BIRDS-EYE FLIGHT - 30 Minutes - USD 120 for foreigners & NPR 9000 for Nepali Citizens

This is the medium range flight and takes 30 minutes to complete the flight. The hot air balloon rises 300m from the ground. The flight descends from Dhampus and rounds the beautiful city of the lake. The flight lets you swim like a swing in the sky above the Langtang, Fishtail, Dhaulagiri, and Phewa can enjoy with the hot tea or coffee during the flight. After landing at the favorable spot, drive back to the hotel at Pokhara.

MAGICAL VOYAGE FLIGHT - 60 Minutes - USD 150 for foreigners & NPR 11000 for Nepali Citizens

Magical Voyage is the longest range flight taking an hour for the complete trip. The flight takes you high up to 500m. The takeoff and the grounding are spot as same like the other above flights. The hot air balloon rises higher and you start feeling colder and colder. The fresh air above the Annapurna range, Mt. Hiunchuli, and the Phewa Lake let you forget your burdens and brings new waves to start the new life in the upcoming days.


There are several options for transport are available to reach Pokhara and return back to Kathmandu.

We catch the bus early in the morning at 7 am from Bus Park. It takes around 7-8 hours to reach Pokhara. The bus will stop at two hotels: one for breakfast and next for lunch. The cost ranges from 10 USD- 25 USD depending upon the standard of the bus. You may not be able to reach Pokhara at an exact time due to the traffic jam on the route.

By Private Jeep/car

The benefit when you choose this option is that you can wake up any time you like. You can stop the vehicle anywhere you like. The price ranges from 130 USD- 150 USD. The private cars can load maximum of 4 peoples. However, we provide larger jeep or car if you come in a group of 5-6. You can stop the car at any hotel you like for lunch and breakfast.

If you have very less time for hot air ballooning in Pokhara, then this is the best option for you. There is an everyday flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. During the peak season, you need to book the tickets earlier in order to avoid shortage of tickets.
