12th National Industrial Exhibition From Today

The 12th National Industrial Trade Fair and Cottage Industry Festival and Renewable Energy Week- 2014 is Starting at the Bhirkutimandap Exhibition Hall from Thursday. The five day program is being operated together by Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) and Alternative Energy promotion Center (AEPC).
According to the organizers, the event, which is being organized to promote domestic products, aims to bring together entrepreneurs scattered across the country and encourage them to focus on quality production. “The event will help to encourage entrepreneurs to focus on quality products and urge consumers to prefer locally made products,” Suresh Pardhan, president of FNCSI, said, “The fair will provide a platform for entrepreneurs to share their experience and problems”.
The program will have altogether 340 stalls of entrepreneurs of 55 districts. Industrial products will be showcased in 200 stalls while 125 stalls have been allocated for alternative energy products. The remaining stalls will showcase by women entrepreneurs. Industrial products to be displayed at the fair include different herbal products, ceramics, stone crafts, metal crafts, wooden crafts, leather and footwear products, agriculture products and raw materials along with utensils made of still and wood.
Likewise, products related to solar energy and bio gas are also being displayed at the fair. “We have joined hands with FNCSI to organize the fair,” Govinda Raj Pokhrel, executive director of AEPC said. “We are also celebrating renewable energy week to encourage people to use renewable energy products which hold great significant as the country is facing long power cuts.” Along with exhibition of industrial and alternative energy products, other side events like events like fashion shows and cultural programs to promote domestic industrial products will also be organized during the event.
Similarly, seminars and business to business meeting, police level meeting with government officials and photography competition are also being organized on the sidelines of the event. The organizers are expecting turnout of around 500,000 visitors and transactions worth Rs 150 million during the event. Entrance fees have been fixed at Rs 5 for general visitors and Rs 15 for students.
